The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, an affinity partner of NFU Mutual, keeps finding reasons to celebrate.
In 2009, WWT will be celebrating the birth of its founder - Sir Peter Scott, the most influential conservationist of the 20th century.
The Trust was founded by Sir Peter Scott in 1946. Ever since, the organisation has worked tirelessly to save threatened wetlands and the birds that inhabit them, such as geese, swans, ducks and flamingos.
It is the only specialist wetland conservation charity with a national network of wetland visitor centres. The nine centres have welcomed over 20 million visitors since opening - introducing adults and children alike to the wonders of wetland birds.
WWT Chief Executive, Martin Spray, says: “Wetlands are disappearing faster than rainforests. In fact, half the world’s wetlands have been lost over the last century and this trend is accelerating. You can show your support by visiting a WWT centre to find out more about the role of wetlands and what you can do to help save them.”
